The Last Transwalker Series

The idea of The Last Transwalker started with a place: a riverside city, flourishing in harmony with the environment surrounding it. The idea took root, and I couldn’t stop myself from exploring the city streets inside my mind. I have always loved architecture, and the city’s aesthetic was a beautiful blend of bits and pieces of wondrous architectural elements and technological advances. From here, in this place, everything else was born. Who lived in this place? How did they spend their days? How were they able to live in wondrous respect of the environment and push forward with advancement? The sense of discovery became the leading action for the story. And in that moment, my leading characters stepped forward to show me the way.

After that, I couldn’t stop filling pages and pages of my sketch book with notes about characters and information about Phipoli. The name, a combination of the golden ratio and an ancient word for the ideal city state, didn’t feel created but already existing, just newly discovered by me.

The real tipping point of these unstoppable ideas being turned into an actual story came when I was constantly talking about this idea or that idea to my co-workers at the art museum. A matter of fact statement, “This is a story. You need to write this down,” gave me the first of many needed supportive pushes to produce the stories I am so excited to be sharing with all of you. And the journey has just begun!

Now let me introduce you to some of the people from The Last Transwalker: Reestablishment.

Odette, originally from Louisiana, has a father, John, and an older sister, Florentine. She is close to her family, and values quality time with those she cares about. When we first meet Odette, she is a little lost. But she is driven forward by her curiosity, finding herself seeking out life-changing adventures.

Florentine is a junior pre-med student, and the older sister of Odette. When the girls were young, they shared more in common, but as they grew up, they drifted in different directions. Florentine is known for her quick mind and desire to help all those around her.

John is the the father of Florentine and Odette. He has a brilliant mind but often is a step out of sync with those around him. His daughters find him equally endearing and confusing. His choice to move the family from Louisiana to Kansas has a rippling effect of bringing up the past and forcing the family to forge ahead into the unknown.
